  1. The Emancipation Proclamation was about all slaves in states and districts in Rebellion against the United States on January 1,1863, will be thenceforth and forever free. I think its important because slaves don't deserve to be treated badly.

  3. The Emancipation Proclamation was important because the Rebellion of the Slaves against their owners which took place in January 1st,1863. This was also because of how the North had abolished Slavery and they felt strongly that it should be abolished everywhere such as the South. The Emancipation Proclamation also also dashed the Souths hopes for Foriegn Aid.

  4. The Emancipation Proclamation was so signifacant because it gave the war a bigger reason and gave the U.S. hope. This document stated that unless the Confederacy surrendered, all slaves in states or districts in Rebellion against the United States on January 1,1863 will be thencforth and forever free. This made us a stronger nation and more soldiers, this even gave us more alias. This proclamation showed people we where trying to do better and all alias and slaves saw that and helped us.

  5. The Emancipation Proclimationwas so significant because on January 1,1863,it gave the war a bigger reson to fight in. Now the war wasn't about saving the Union,it was about ending slavery. That is what gave many abolishionists the will to fight or to fight harder. It made the Union stronger, and weakend the Confederates. This document is what made the war worth fighting for.

  7. The Emancipation Proclimation was signifigant because it was shown as a victory for the north. It freed the slaves in the south. At first the Civil War was about having the south join our country again. After the proclamation was written, it was so much more than that. It was about trying to get rid of the horrible practice we use called slavery. And after it was written it made us so much stronger and the confederates much weaker. This happened because since the slaves were freed in the south they all came up here to join the union army. I wonder what my world would be like today if that document was never written...

  8. I agree with Kendall S, this document freed all slaves in the confederate states. Which in turn destroyed the southern economy. without this document we might not have won the war.

  9. The Emancipation Proclamation was signhed on January 1 1863. When the south departed from the union, they still had slavery. This proclamation was so importaant because it ended slavery in the south. As a president back then, you could not end slavery in your country but you can take land form your enemy. It was not just a law but a military order1 Abraham Lincoln was very dedicated to this proclamation since he completly went against slavery. History in America really did change after that. Every person could now live freely in the United States. I wonder if the Emancipation Proclomation was never written, would we still have slavery today?

  10. The Emancipation Proclamation was a very important document. On January 1, 1863, this document was signed by Abraham Lincoln stating that slavery was no longer omitted in the south. The freeing of slaves in the southern states crushed the southern economy. Also, thousands of free blacks rushed to the Union army, joining the troops to fight for the Cause. Finally, the Emancipation Proclamation dashedthe South's hopes for a foreign aid. Before this document, European countries such an France were considering helping the Confederacy, but didn't. The south had to fight alone. It makes me wonder, if the Union could have won the war if the Emancipation Proclamation was never published.

  11. The Emancipation Proclamation did not free the slaves but it was still very important because it crippled the South and it also made the Union army a lot stronger it ruined the souths hopes for foreign aid.

  12. The Emancipation Proclamation was extremely significant even though it did not free the slaves. On September 22 he released this document and it stated that "all slaves in states or districs in rebellion agianst the United States on January 1, 1863, will be free. This was also supposed to cripple the other sides economy not just free the slaves. Also this document effected the side on which France and Europe supported. They were along with the fact of no slavery, now the Confederacy would be alone in this war. Overall the Emancipation Proclamation was very signifacant besides the fact that people think all of the slaves were free, which they weren't. It makes me wonder what if we had lost this battle and Lincoln had never published the Emancipation Proclamation, We might still have slaves and it could have changed the whole history of our Country.

  13. It is Important because it helped the U.s. Get more troops because when the slaves heard about The Emancipation Proclamation they rushed over to the North and helped them fight and win the battles of the Civil War. And It is important because Plantation owners lacked slaves crops withered, dried out and eventually died so actually slavery is what made the Souths Economy good but when it died I don't think there was a single crop standing on those fields. And thats why The Emancipation Proclamation was important it helped the war and the slaves.

  14. I think the Emancipation Proclamation was very significant. Although it did not free slaves in the North it freed slaves in the South. This Proclamation was very significant because it caused the Confederacy to lose thousands of plantation workers and this destroyed their economy. While the confederacy was being destroyed the Union kept benefiting from it because all the freed slaves came to the Union's army, this caused the Union to have an advantage in the Civil War. I wonder if the Emancipation Proclamation was never written would slavery ever have been abolished?

  15. The Emancipation Proclamation is very important document during the Civil War. For example, Abe lincoln said " that all men everywhere might be free," bringing an end to slavery was not his conceren. Also, he said, "all slaves in states or districts in rebellion against the United States in 1/1/1863, will be thenceforth and forever free." Finally, the document was not a law but it was a military order. It makes me wonder how mant slaves did escape from the south during the Civil War.

  16. The emancipation proclomation did more then just free slaves. This document also slimmed chances of the south of having help from us and slaves around the union and the confederacy. Before antietam, other countries were going to help the Confederacy, and if this happened we (the Union) probably would've lost the civil war.

  17. i think the Emancipation Proclamation is very important to the U.s because it signifanly helped the union, because, it did not free the slaves altogether. However,it cause more of he slaves in the south to attempt escapes because they knew if they went to the north and fought in the army, they would be "forever free" and if they won their family would be free. the way this helped the u.s is we had way more people,so this also helped us.However, i wonder if McClellan actually ended everything at antitem if things wouldve been different.

  19. The Emancipation Proclamation is very important. Altho the slaves weren't free many slaves would soon join the union and will be set free.

  20. The Emancipation Proclamation did not free slaves. Lincoln only had power in the Union States and cannot take away personal property. The proclamation says that all slaves in Confederate states are free. Lincoln did not have power in the Confederate states. Also, some slaves ran away from their masters in the south and that crippled the southern economy. Lastly, England and France now knowing that the Union was against slavery would not aid the Confederate states.

  22. The Emancipation Proclamation was very important even though it did not free all of the slaves. The Emancipation Proclamation states that all of the slaves in the Confederate regions and states are free, but Abe Lincoln couldn't state whether the slaves were free or not because he didn't have power over all of the Confederate states. One of the outcomes with this was that many slaves in the south ran away to come to the Union. Even though they weren't free, thousands of free blacks rushed to join the Union army who WERE following the Proclimation. The South still wanted to have slavery, and the North vowed to abolish it. Lincoln’s Proclamation could be present only if the Union won the Civil War. As a result, the Proclimation was modified and put into action.
