The most interesting topic that i have ever learned about is the Napoleon and the Napoleonic Wars. This is my favorite topic because it is about Napoleon who was a man that rose up out of the ahses to become the emperor of France. He created the worlds best army ever and led it to greatness and glory unimaginable. Napoleon was a tactical genious who culd have been outnumbered 3 to 1 and still could have won the battle. Plus the Napoleonic Wars were fought on many different fronts such as Italy, modern day Germany, Austria, Russia, Egypt, France, and the Iberian Peninsula. This is why this topic is most appealing to me.

  3. I think that the most interesting project was the greek gods facebook project. I thought this was interesting because we had a fun time learning about it. Also, it was interesting how they made the facebook template. I wonder what it would be like if we did it on actual facebook?

  4. We think the most interesting project that we completed in social studies was the Greek God facebook page. We think this was intriging because it mixed history with technology and was a fun way to learn about interesting Gods. We also haad a choice on which God we wanted to research about. In addition, we learned a lot of Greek God mythes and stories that were not completely true.

  5. We all enjoyed learning about the holocaust. One of us had a great great aunt who surrived a concentration camp. We also all read a book in fith grade called Number the Stars, which was about a young girl who lived during the times of the holocaust, and is hiding her best friend who is jewish. After reading this book this became our favorite history topic.

  6. One of my favorite times in history is also one I learned about. In 5th grade I remembered learning about the american revolution. From Paul Revere to the Boston Tea Party, I love it all. I am also very exciting to be learning about the Civil War this year.

  7. The most fun topic I have ever learned about is Roanoke. Roanoke went missing which is pretty obscure. How can it go missing. It is very weird. But on some of todays maps you can see the word Roanoke in North America. Also the greek god facebook template was fun as well. I worked on Zeus.

  8. I also like American History, especially the American revolution, because it ocurred around where we live and New Jersey was one of the 13 colonies. My mom's side of my familiy has lived here since the 1600's and someone from my family has fought in almost every American war. I think U.S. history is very interesting.

  9. What was my favorite topic I learned about in Social Studies? My favorite topic in history was World War 2. We learned it in 5th grade for the whole year! I bought a book that tells you what weapons they used, what the Nazi's did, and what the vitims had to do! I still read the book (Schoolastic book) because I learn about it on my own! I could also connect World War 2 to a book called "Number the Stars". If I can get any more information on World War 2, I would be ecstatic!

  12. My favorite topic in Social Studies has been the build-up to the American Revolutionary War. First, I enjoy this period because for over 150 years, the American colonists were actually proud to call themselves English subjects and even fought in wars to protect the British claims in North America. Next, I especially enjoyed learning about the time from after the French and Indian War through 1775, as this was, in my opinion, the most crucial time in determining the path of the revolutionary spirit in the colonies. I also enjoy this time period because I like examining the British perspective of the colonies and how certain taxes and acts were deemed necessary by the British government to recuperate their losses while defending the colonies. Finally, I enjoyed reading and discovering the Continental Congress and the idea that what they were doing, had they been unsuccessful, would have been considered treason, and the men who represented the Americans would have been put to death for rebelling against the British crown. If I had been around during this time period, I would like to think that I would have been one of the Sons of Liberty and choosing to rebel against the British for their oppressive rule.

In my opinion i think that the most important topic we learnded in Mrs Morales's class is Christopher Columbus. When ever i heard his name all i ever thought was that " He was the man who discovered America, in search of India" But not only did he discover America it's that him and his crew weren't the only people there that day. There was a tribe filled with the population of 8 million Native Americans. When Columbus walked up on shore to claim the land for Spain, here were the Native Americans thinking that Columbus was some type of god because he was in silver, shiny armor and he looked nothing liked other natives. The Native Americans had not idea what was going on but they greeted Columbus and his men with opem arms any way. That's not even the best part, turns out Columbus had a bad side. When Mrs. Morales brought up this topic i was like " What are you talking about, he discovered America and claimed it for Spain, thats it." But as she got more into the subject, sadly that bad side led to the extinction of 8 million Native Americans. This all started by a system Columbus ivented where if you didn't do as he said or if you went against him in any way you had to face the punishment of the concequences leading to having a limb cutt off. In my opinion i don't think Christopher Columbus even deserves a holiday. Even though he discovered America, and if he didn't none of us would be here today, the fact that all of those people died because of him is mind boggeling to me. Some of you might disagree with me saying Columbus showed great leadership and diplomacy. But your missing the point; Columbus showed the exact oppisite of leadership, and with diplomacy, Columbus cared for nothing accept himself and gold. During all of this i was just speechless and i think i wasn't the only one. Therefore in conclusion i think Christopher Columbus shows great importance as a topic.

  14. My favorite topic in social studies is Cristopher Columbus because now i know what some of the horrible things he did to the native americans. In addition, i also now know that he did not land in america he didn't even discover the Bahama. In conclusion that is a great topic in social studies that other people would find interesting and fasinating.

  15. I think the most important topic I learned in mrs Morales Social Studies class is Christopher columbus. I think this because he is the one that discovered a new land and proved that the world is round. However, he did do some pretty terrible stuuff. This terrible stuff is that he made his men cut off their ears, nose and hands if the Natives didnt listen to him. This topic is important to know because it is what really happen on that day inm 1492. Therefore without Christopher clumbus, we wouldnt be in the Americas right now.

  18. So far, in social studies, with Mrs. Morales, I have learned things that I didn't know before. Such as Christopher Columbus "discovering America". Also, how king Henry VIII had 6 wives and the outcome of his decisions. In addition, it was very bizarre hoe the people of Roanoke just dissapeared. It still bothers me how no one knows what happened to them. They just vanished out of thin air, with no trace of them left behind. I wonder if the natives had anything to do witih it....

  19. So far, the most intresting topic I have learned about is The bad side of Christopher Columbus. I really had no idea that Christopher Columbus was a bad person. Although he had done all those terrible things, you still have to think of all the good things he did. When I first heard that Chris Columbus had done all of these things to the Tainos Indians, I was suprised and upset. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. And for the fact that I was hearing about it now, in 7th grade. I was even more suprised when I thought Chris Columbus has his own Holiday. Okay, I get that if it wasn't for him we wouldnt be here. But I honestly do not think he should get his own Holiday. Its basically saying, "Good job on killing the Tainos. Now we have a holiday for you." Just think of it, its ridiculous. To have a holiday in honor of a murderer? Its just plain out crazy. Even though with out him, we probably wouldn't be here. Now, I understand while all of those people protest on Columbus day, October 12. I stand behind them. They have a point when they hold up signs and scream. I wonder what it would be like to actually be related to a Tainos Indian, and see a parade honoring a killer. It blows my mind. It really does. I don't even wanna know what else Columbus did to the Tainos that people today do not know about. Therefore, Columbus does not derserve a holiday and so far, that was the most interesting thing I've learned in 7th grade as of now..

  20. We think that the most fun project was the time we did the Greek God Facebook template. This project was fun, interesting, and creative. We had Facebook templates and made Aphrodite and Zeus Facebook pages. We inserted pictures of the god, looked at the imformation about them and typed it in our own words about them. This project was done by Mr. Nick and Ms. Knight. We learned so much about the Greek gods and Goddesses. Maby this year we will do something else interesting with the Facebook template on Google Docs!

I think the most fun project I did last year with Mrs. Knight was when we made a box and everyone had to guess who you had. That was a very fun project!!!

  23. We think that the most intersesting project that we did was making a mayan house in 5th grade. It was made out of clay and straw on top of a shoebox. Then we had to explain where the house was located. We also had to find factson the Mayans. I think that was a very fun and interesting project!!

  24. I think that the most interesting and fun subject was world war I and world war II, becuase of the different reasons that they started like adolf hitler and his hatrid of jews and hiding it behind all the germans backs. lastly my personal favorite war the revolutionary war beacuse,it is very interesting that a rag tag malitia beat the best army in the world and how muche the colonists put into to wining this war and thier hardwork payed off

  27. I think that my favorite topic that I've ever learned in social studies is the Mayans. In 5th grade my class read "The Well of Sacrafice". I found that book to be interesting anjd exciting. Also in social studies last year Ms. Knight had us do a project where we had to create our own society and use inventions from the earliest colonies. We had to make a town on a poster board which I thought was really cool. Also in 5th grade we read "Number the Stars" about the Holocost. This book was exciting and interesting. The book was well-written but the topic is devistating. I really hope that there will never be anything like the holocost ever again.

The Holocost was such a devistating topic that I wanted to cry. However the story was well-written and I enjoyed it.

  29. I remember when in 6th grade when we started the facebook template. Everyone usually picked a simple greek god like zeus or poseidon. I wanted to make my facebook different. Instead of doing a god everyone already knew about, I decided to do a god that people would be interested in and not the same old gods. The god I used was Pan. Pan was the god of all satyrs and of sheep and pretty much the god of the woods. He is the reason of when you're in the woods and you get that sudden fear of panic. He is the reason for that or that is what they say. Thats the reason it's called "Pan"ic. But anyways it was a fun project and the best project i've ever had done. At least so far because Mrs. morales's class has a long way to go

  30. My favorite topic in Social Studies is Immigration. Immigrants were people from diffrent countries who moved to the U.S to have a better life. But some people became very sick while travling on the ships to go though Ellis Island. Soon there was a hospital there called The Ellis Island Hospital. It cured hundreds of people. Once they were cured they were allowed to live in the U.S. Another problem was that many families were separated when they arrived. There were many reasons for this such as illness or they didn't have the right papers. Also, they needed a place to live. But where were they going to go? Good question. They would live in tenements. Tenements were unhealty places to live. They had to share bedrooms and bathrooms with other people. Because they were too close together they ended up getting sick. I was lucky enough to visit Ellis Island with my fifth grade class last year. We went on a ship like the immigrants sailed on and I scratched my grandfather's name from the wall. But my favorite part was visiting the museum. It made me feel like I was experiencing an important part of history.

  31. My favorite event in history that I have learned
in social study's is ancient Egypt. I love to read books on Egypt. I wonder how they made the pyramids without any modern tools. For example they did not have trucks or any other vehicles or machines. How could they lift heavy blocks without crains? Maybe one day I will travel there to see how big they really are. That is why ancient Egypt is my favorite event in history

  32. The most interesting topic i learned about is Christopher Columbus. The teacher in a younger grade did not tell you somethings that you will learn when you are in 7th grade. It is some pretty hard core stuff. Christopher colombus should not have a holiday at all for what he did to women. He cut off peoples heads becuse they couldnt find gold in the river. If i were the king and queen i would throw him in the dungons. That is foul and not very manly.

  34. The most interesting topic that I have learned about so far in seventh grade would have to be Christopher Columbus. In fifth and sixth grade social studies we always learned that Chris was such a great man and that we need to honor him more for discovering America. Now finding out he true story how he sent people to death if they couldn't do things his way I believe he doesn't deserve a holiday, also this year we talked about how Christopher wasn't the finder of America. I would love to learn more and possibly work out a project with the topic of Christopher Columbus.

  35. The most interesting topic I ever learned in social studies is Roanoke. I thought that was the most interesting because its full of mysteries and suspicion. No one ever really found out what truly happened to the people of Roanoke. It is a big mystery and to this day is not yet certian how everyone disappeared. I wonder how all those colonists just disappeared and were never seen again.
