  1. I believe that the Boston Massacre was the main reason for the Revolutionary War. In this horror show, five people were murdered by the Red Coats. If this never occurred, then the colonists would have never started to completely rebel, and realize that England would not cater to their needs. A way they could have prevented this is if the taxes weren't as high as they were. Then, the colonists would have never rebelled, and the war wouldn't exist. In conclusion, if the Boston Massacre was avoided, then it is possible that the Revolutionary War would have never occurred.

  2. I believe that the Boston Massacre was a key cause of The American Revolution. However, the event was not. The article and illustration by Samuel Adams and Paul Revere made the event look like the Americans were the weakling and the British shot in a row. The whole event was an accident. The propaganda made it look like a big war battle. This caused many colonists to be angered by the British and was a trigger to fight back.

  3. We believe the main cause of the revolutionary war is the french and Indian war. England needed money after the war so they opted to tax Americans for the debts they needed to pay off. They taxed on alot of things essentials to every day life. The colonists were more mad that they weren't getting represented in England. Saying "No taxation without representation!" England refused to listen to the colonists over and over again.

  4. I think the event most reasonable for the american revolution was the Boston Massacre. It was kind of the spark that lit the revolution. After the solders fired into a crowd and killed 5 and wounded 7 everyone was angry. tension between patriots and soldiers grew. The Boston massacre started the fire. Eventually, as the patriots got more bold, war broke out. The American revolutionary war.

    1. Isn't it kind of funny though how none of the soldiers were found guilty of murder by a jury of colonists, yet this event surely does seem to have changed things. Do you think it was the event itself or the Sons of Liberty's propaganda that changed things?

  5. I think that the main reason of the Revolutionary War was in my opinion Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre started by a young apprentice yelling at a redcoat. The young apprentice started to throw rocks and ice at the redcoat. The redcoat was wounded. He then called for backup. When back up arrived there was 8 redcoats. More colonists arrived at the scene. Soon the streets of Boston were bloody of colonists blood. This set off the colonists and most of them turned on the redcoats and Britain.

  6. I think the most influential part that started the revolutionary war was the taxation without representation because unless England actually told the colonies why they were being taxed it might have turned out differently.

    1. So if the king had explained to us that England was broke and he needed our tax money, we would be ok with it? Or if he had allowed us to have a say in the taxes we paid (votes in Parliament), would that have made more of a difference?

  7. I think the Boston Massacre was the biggest cause of the war. I think this because five people died. I believe that the colonists started it because they threw snowballs and yelled hurtful names. If the colonist did not throw things or yell mean things this event would have never happened. With this being said this is the most important cause of the war. Michael G 5-9A

  8. I think the Boston Massacre was the biggest contributor to the Revolutionary War. Five colonists died in the Boston Massacre and seven wounded. However the British solders were attacked by the colonists, one British solider was hit in the head with a club. The Boston Massacre outraged thousands of colonists across America.

  9. I believe the Boston Massacre was the biggest contributor to the Revolutionary War. I'm sure the Boston Massacre pushed a lot of the colonist over their comfort zone once they heard British Soldiers had opened fire on a group of colonists. Five colonists were dead and seven were wounded during this happening.

  11. I believe the event that was responsible for the most outbreak was the Boston Massacre. I think this because that was the first actual attack on the redcoats. The colonists started with taunting. Then they began throwing random objects, like clubs, tomatoes, rocks, and snow. When you stop and think about it, the colonists wanted this to happen, and they wanted to start a fight with the redcoats instead of obeying there horrible rules. The troops got so mad that they actually hit a guy with the butt of the gun, and some men shot the colonists. No one knows who shot first, but the shot was known as “the shot that round the world!” Eight were dead, and five were injured. People exaggerated about the whole scene! Paul Revere and Samuel Adams had carved a picture of the scene. They made it so that the redcoats look guilty! Sam and Paul had made it seem that 15 people were dead, and the british had a captain screaming for them to fire. Also has if the colonists were not throwing anything. But, they were not the only one who had exaggerated, England did the same thing! They made it look like the colonists were the only one being violent!

  12. After learning about many events that led to the American Revolution,I feel the most responsible rising tension was probably the Boston Tea Party. After the British won the French and Indian War,King George(the third,a.k.a the king who lost America) had taxed the colonists to help pay for it. After King George taxed the tea,the colonists were fed up,because that was pretty much the only thing they drank, because they couldn’t always get clean water! They wanted to stop the taxation, but how? The colonists simply figured out what to do.
A ship arrived with over 300 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor, and the teas arrival was the thing that started the conflict. (The following underneath is from the article Boston Tea Party on page 35 in the packet). It took place on December 16,1773. Seven thousand people including colonists, everyone that lived there, etc surrounded the ships. The tea was to be unloaded the next day,and the crew looked unhappy, they wanted to be paid.
But the colonists were furious! About 200 of them boarded the ships, and dumped the tea into the harbor! However, the colonists who opposed the tax were happy, and they thought the British would cancel the tax. Well they did the opposite thing. They kept it.-Serena N. 1-2B

  13. I think that the Boston Massacre sparked the revolution. Paul Revere's "The Bloody Massacre" got people talking about a revolution. When the King found out he sent more troops and that enraged more people. Soon, the Boston Tea Party took place and then more troops were sent. If the Boston Massacre didn't happen, then none of this would of either.

  14. In my opinion, I believe that the main reason the revolution started was because of the taxes.Three acts were the Stamp act, the Townshend act, and the Tea act which had angered the colonists. The British started taxing stamps, bills, documents, but mostly only paper. The townshend act was when the British started to tax British goods. Lastly, the Tea act was when the British started to tax the tea that the colonists drank.I understand if your a king and your in debt but it's unfair to tax more people in other lands than your own. In conclusion, even though the colonists did harmful things it was only because of the British.

  15. I think the taxes started the revaluation. But the massacre was all because of the taxes. It was just a battle on the street but look at it this way. All of the battles happened after this. Examples: Battle of bunker hill,Battle of Lexington and concord. Also after that their was an add created by Paul Revere to get people interested in the topic. In the film in class all the battles started at most one year after.

  16. I Think The Boston Massacre Had Indeed Sparked The Revolution. The Boston Massacre Had gotten people started in the war with all of its propaganda and posters. Some, Not all loyalists had then joined the war. King George, After "The Bloody Massacre" Engraving, Paul Revere had made, King George had lost a lot of people on his side. The Massacre Itself, was mainly about the taxes. The Main Acts, The Townshend Acts, The Stamp Act, And The Tea Act (I Do Not Know Its Name). Then, That Was just one of the beginnings of the Revolution.

  17. After learning about the many events that led to the American Revolution, the one event that raised the tension between the colonists and the British is the Battle Of Lexington & Concord. Why? Well, because it was known as “the shot around the world”.Also,it was the first real battle between the colonists and the British and the Patriots(Americans) won the battle. In Lexington, eight colonists and the one redcoat died. Also, the minutemen attacked the redcoats when they were being chased by the colonists. This battle happened on the day of April 19,1775.As it says in the film,The Road to the Revolution, they said how this battle was heard from around the world. This means that this was the shot that changed history and started the American Revolution.I strongly believe that if there was no shot heard from around the world, the American Revolution wouldn't have to start and hundreds of colonists didn't have to suffer and pass away.

  18. After learning about the many events that led to the American Revolution, I think the most responsible for the start of the Revolution was the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was on March 5th, 1770 and was when one colonist started yelling at a redcoat, then a riot broke out, gunshots started, and finally it resulted in five dead colonists. The first reason the Boston Massacre was the most responsible for the American Revolution is because this was where British started invading Boston. Another reason this was the most responsible event for the Revolution is because, in the text(from the Boston Massacre article) it states, “One of the colonists hit a soldier named Hugh Montgomery with a club, knocking him to the ground. Montgomery got up and fired his gun.” This shows that the Boston Massacre was most important event to the Revolution because this was the first place where redcoats shot at the colonists and where the colonists fought back. Finally, I think the Boston Massacre was the most responsible for the American Revolution because so much negative propaganda pointed toward the British was produced. Paul Revere engraved it as the “Bloody Massacre” with hidden things that show how the British were at fault for this event. I wonder how the future would’ve been affected if the colonists had guns and shot back at the British.

  19. I believe that King George was responsible for the tension rising because he wasn’t taking responsibility for his actions. Instead of taking control and dealing with his problems himself he threw his problem on top of the colonist. King George annoyed the colonist by taxing them on everything and sending soldiers to keep an eye on them 24/7. This aggravated the colonist, and they began to get mad and abuse the soldiers verbally and physically. What many colonist did not know was that some soldiers were there under their will, and if they didn’t do what the king commanded they would be committing treason. The soldiers were misunderstood and neglected by the colonist.

  20. The one event that created the most rising tension was the Boston Tea Party.
I think this because the Sons of Liberty dumped around 400 crates of tea, and the king was furious at the colonists. The king wanted the colonists to pay for all of the tea the dumped just so he could pay for the French and indian war. For Example, in the text book it stated that the Sons of Liberty actually were responsible for this crime and for this the redcoats closed the Boston Harbor. The Sons of Liberty only did this because the taxes on tea were ridiculous and the colonists did not want to pay for the taxes so they didn’t drink the British tea. But,When the ship came with loads of tea the colonists committed this act to get the King’s attention. In conclusion the Boston Tea Party was the greatest act in my opinion that started the revolutionary war.

  21. After learning about the events that led to the American Revolution I think that the most responsible outbreak for the American Revolution is the Boston Massacre. In the textbook it says that the colonists were mocking the redcoats. It also states that the colonists were throwing things at the regulars. If I was a redcoat I would hate being treated that way. The 5 colonists dead made the colonists even angrier when it spread. The colonists thought it was outrageous and thats what I think was the main cause.

  22. The point that created the most rising tension was the Lexington&Concord on April 19th 1775. I think this because in the book that we read said that the British fired the first shot which made the colonists shoot back at them. It was was called the shot heard round the world. That shot made everything go down hill for the French. There were 8 colonists and 1 soldier dead after the shooting finally stopped. The colonists won the war believe it or not, The colonists had 4,000 minutemen to make the French retreat and lose their land.

  23. After learning about some of the causes of the American Revolution I think that the most responsible outbreak of the American Revolution was the Boston Massacre. I think that this was the worst because it was the first event in which people were killed. And that’s not just the British. In the film that we watched called “The causes of the Revolution” it was actually so severe that the British, who ruled the colonies, were put into court. And in that court the colonists were screaming at the redcoats saying that they should be guilty. This is very bad towards the British.

  24. I believe that the Boston Massacre was the most responsible for the rising tension between the colonies and England. I believe this because if the soldier had never fired at a civilian population then the colonist wouldn't be so angry. Also, this massacre resulted in mean propaganda. For example, if this didn't happen Paul Revere wouldn't have drawn the picture of the massacre making it look like the british did everything with an intention to do it. This event took place on March 5th, 1770 it later ended with five dead and seven wounded

  25. After learning about some of the causes of the American Revolution, I think the most responsible event for the outbreak of the war is the Stamp act. The Stamp act is which is when you pay for papers, newspapers, and documents. The colonists wondered why they were being taxed, and they wanted to know. They rebelled against King George, and he began taxing even higher. Now, the colonists were in rage, they burned houses of the governors, and mocked the British. It says in the article that I was assigned, that “ They burned homes of royal governors. They also burned and dumped shipment of British goods.” Then, it was when the war began.

  26. After learning about the American Revolution I feel that the Boston Tea Party was the most tension between the Colonists and England. This is because King George the 3rd raised the taxes on everything especially tea. The colonists did not like that very much so they decided to go out late at night and take the tea and through it over board. But the colonists were afraid to get caught, so the dressed up as the English. Soon after that the english found out and commanded to have war, So they did. When they finally had war the English had weapons and were prepared to win. The colonists had no weapons and fighted there best. Thats why i strongly believe that the Boston Tea Party was the most tension between the colonists and England.

  27. After learning about the many events that led to the American Revolution, I think the one of the most important events that lead up to it was the Boston Tea Party. The reason I think that is because the Sons Of Liberty were burning houses down and they also mocked the British troops. Although that angered the Red Coats, the Sons Of Liberty also dressed up as Indians, and dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor. That really made the Red Coats mad. King George had to send Red Coats to watch the Sons Of Liberty for pouring the tea into the harbor. I believe that King George didn’t need to send the Red Coats. The reason I believe that is because some of the Red Coats took peoples jobs and stayed in peoples homes, and the people that they chose had no choice but to let them stay into their house.

  28. After learning about the many events that led to the American revolution, I believe that it was the taxing that was the most responsible for the rising tension between the colonists and England. There was no REAL conflict before King George decided to tax the colonists. The only reason he did though, was because he had spent too much money on the French and Indian War, so he decided to tax the colonists to make up for the money he spent. The colonists weren't happy with this because they were being taxed without a representative, thus, “taxation without representation.” It was when the king made the Stamp Act that the colonists really started to rebel against England. Samuel Adams formed a secret society called the Sons of Liberty that was formed basically for this, to rebel against taxation. The Sons of Liberty caused a lot of trouble with the Redcoats, which eventually led to even bigger events that were more serious than this. If the king hadn’t taxed the colonists, the many more events that happened later in history such as the Boston Tea Party and the Boston massacre wouldn’t have happened. Therefore, I feel that the taxing was most responsible for the rising tension between the colonists and England because it is really what started everything, and many of the other events later in history probably wouldn’t have happened.

  29. I believe that the Boston Tea Party was the most responsible for the rising tension between the colonists and England, during the American Revolution. The reason I believe that this was the most responsible is because the Sons of Liberty went to the extreme with this one. Although, they had burnt down royal government houses and smothered men with tar before, during the Boston Tea Party they destroyed something very symbolic to the taxes from Britain, the tea that the taxes were on. In A History of the US: From Colonies to Country, the men disguised themselves as Indians and dumped all the tea into the harbor where the ships were docked. Because of this, many of the loyalists were angered by the act of rebellion and everything went down-hill from there. Since that moment, King George has been sending out lobster backs to control the colonists causing everyone to have to be sneaky about the rest of the war. Although that there are many events that could have been responsible to the American Revolution, I think that the Boston Tea Party was a large contributor.

  30. I believe that the most important cause to the American Revolution was the Boston Massacre. This event occurred when a colonists started shouting at a Redcoat. This was when the Redcoats really started invading Boston. If they didn't, it wouldn't have taken place. The shouting then lead to a big street fight resulting in five dead colonists. After that, both sides made a propaganda framing the other country. So, England showed the colonists messing with the Redcoats while the Redcoats had nothing to fight back with, and the Americans showed the British firing away at the colonists while they stood there completely defenseless. Neither of these are true of course, but they definitely started a fuss between the two countries. In my opinion, this lead to the American Revolution.

  31. I believe King George's actions against the colonist was one of the main parts of why the revolution started. He put too many taxes on the colonists to help pay for the debt he incurred during the French and Indian War. This was unfair and the colonist started to rebel against the king. An example of how they protested the Kings taxes was the Boston Tea party. The taxes on tea where unfair and the colonist choose to show it by dumping it into the Harbor. Miranda Badrick 10-11a
