  1. The advice we would give to the 6th graders is to try to make new friends early. You can still be good friends with you old friends but try putting your self out there. Another piece of advice we would give to the sixth graders is to stay organized throughout the year. You can do this by writing down your homework and keeping your binders neat. We hope they follow this advice and have a good year!

  3. To Survive/Succeed in sixth grade you should always listen to what the teachers say, what they say might be important or good use to you. Never run in the halls. You could run into someone and get hurt. Always do your homework and always hand it in on time. you could get less points if you hand it in late. And if you follow all of those rules you should be just fine.

    1. Running in the halls is a very hazardous issue that Bayshore is trying to get rid of, so I agree. I know that many people are late to class, but getting someone hurt by running into them is not taken lightly. I also agree with listening. Always staying focused and paying attention is the main way to get good grades and understand homework better. Whenever you don't listen, you could be missing something really important that may be on a pop quiz or test! I actually think that sitting away from your best friends truly helps with your academic skills. It also helps you make new friends by sitting with different people!

  4. The advice we give to our underclassmen is to make sure you write down all your homework and stay organized throughout your entire school career. Also, pay attention in class because there may be something you'll need to know in the future (there always is).

  5. Some advice for some six graders could be to not curse in front of any students or teachers. Don't run in the halls to get to class and always be polite to other students or teachers in the hall. No yelling in the halls or in general. Also always try to be organized.

  6. Dear 6th Graders,
There are many difficulties in your first year of middle school, but with these tips your year will go by much smoother. The first thing you should do is try to keep your locker organized. If your locker is organized, it will be easier to find binders, papers, books and any other belongings. Another tip to help you succeed this year is, do all your homework the night you get, or as soon as possible. If you procrastinate, you are more likely to get a lower grade. A tip to help you be on time more often is to only go to your locker in the morning before homeroom, before and after lunch and at the end of the day to get your binders. These are the best intervals for getting your supplies.

  7. I would definitely say for them to follow directions and don't goof off during class. They really have got to not let the older kids in the school boss them around! Believe me it's not fun! I hope to see them around school more often and I hope they have a great first year at Bayshore Middle School like I did!

Also, we would tell them to always do their homework, pay attention, and try their hardest in all of their classes. Not doing any of your work or paying attention will get you nowhere. Never procrastinate because it will make you even more stressed and make everything harder. Also we would wish them good luck.

  12. Our two biggest advice for the new sixth graders is to first stay organized. This will help because if you don't keep track from the beginning of the year you will most likely have binders falling apart during the middle of the year! Our second advice is to not overdue anything. If you are finished with a project and want to put extra work into it and stress out over it, don't worry! Extra credit will not affect your grade it in a negative way!

  14. My advice to the 6th graders is, that you need to stay organized because it will be easier to study, and get homework done on time. Also you need to pay attention in class and take notes when you are told to do so. Only carry around books for classes that you have in the morning (before lunch) and go to your locker and get the books for your afternoon classes. (after lunch) By the third week you will no longer need to carry around your schedule and you will be able to get to your classes early and on time!!

After each end of the marking period specific teachers will give you binders check that's why you need to stay organized and put in all your dates. As Nick and Grace stated before get to all your classes on time, I would say this is most important because if you are late you can get a call home or detention. Also keep your locker neat and organzied becasue when you are switching classes you can easlily pull out your suppllies you need but if it is not neat or organzied then it might take more time inbetween classes to clean it up. Also make sure to keep track of all your homework assigments becuase if you forget then you will get a zero and your grade will go down.

  26. Hey, Sixth Graders, you aren't in Elementary School anymore, so I know you need some tips! Advice from a former sixth grader is always fun! One piece of advice that I give you is to not stay inside of your shell, branch out! You don't need to be afraid to introduce yourself. From experience, sixth grade was a great opportunity to make new friends. Even with the new students coming to seventh grade, I have already made a few other friends! Try not to be bashful during group work as well. Another thing to do is to always be focused. If you are a class clown or don't want to do any of your work, sixth grade may not be as easy for you. If you are participating and doing your homework to the best of your ability, you will go far! Honors classes applications will also be available if you work hard enough. Another great tip for you guys is to always have your locker combination written down, and your schedule with you! It really helps if you are still a little shaky on where you are going, especially if you're in a rush. If you don't have your schedule and you forget where a certain class is, teachers are always available to help you. You could even ask your friends! I even set my locker on the first number that my combination is because it makes things much quicker! My last tip for you guys is to be organized with everything! Keep your binders neat, your locker organized, and write down everything in your planner! I even suggest keeping your binders organized in your locker with each period you have them, it makes things much easier! I have so much more advice and tips to give you guys, but I don't want to write an essay! I hope that this helped, and I really hope that you will use my advice to make sixth grade much easier!

  29. You are coming into a new grade, and you will become more mature. Teachers expect you to become independent. So, become more mature, and independent, too. Here are some tips to help you guys survive sixth grade!

One piece of advice for the sixth graders is to always be determined to do your best! No matter what others say, don't slack off, always try as hard as you can, such as getting good grades! I would also suggest doing some clubs, such as environmental club, or cross country! Last year I did Circle of Friends, and I had a blast! Do some after school activities, try new things! Be friendly to others! No one likes a bully, it wont get you anywhere! The first step in a great friendship is to just say hi! Also, in sixth grade, your going to want to be organized and prepared. Trust me, it is always easier that way! But, the most important advice for you sixth graders, have fun! You may think it is boring, school, but to tell you the truth, sixth grade was my favorite year yet! So follow all of these steps, and you are sure to have a great and successful year! Listen to some other students advice, because they are great, and maybe you can relate to some of the advice they are giving, also!

  30. Hello, six graders welcome to our school. You will have a grand time here. You will be learning a lot but this school is trying to help you become the best you can be. I'm not saying that it's just the teachers, I'm saying it's the whole school because if you try your hardest then you will have a bright future. You can come to the principal, the guidance counselor for help. They will be glad to help you if something is wrong. I hope you have a fantastic time at Bayshore Middle school. I have some advice that might help you out during the school year. I'm glad you're here and if you need help with anything I'm here.
First of all you never want to be late to class, try to carry your binders fro period one until you get to lunch because that will help a lot. Do not try to go to your locker between classes because there's a good chance you will be late. Try to focus on where you're going because if you bump into someone and you don't have a lot of time left you could be late to class.
Second thing is that you should try to stay organize because during the year you will have binder checks and it helps when you're organized. I saw a some kids that weren't organized last year and it got worse so try to stay organized. This goes for you're locker too because you might get the wrong binder, you might lose your homework, basically I'm saying right now is keep your lockers and binders clean.
Third one is that I know there's going to be some homework and you don't want to do it but try to do your A Day homework on the same day because I did it to then I started to do it the day before it was due. But then I was having a lot of homework and I couldn't handle it so try to stick to doing your homework the day you get it.
I hope my advice helps. Thank you for reading.

  33. The advice that I would give to the sixth graders is that you should definitely get into a club or a sports activity. This will keep you active through out the school year! As you sixth graders may know you have the option of most of the clubs and cross country and wrestling. If you do cross country this will help you so much. After your sixth grade year you will have the option of a sport like soccer or basketball even baseball, with cross country it will condition you. With the clubs it is great to join because you stay active and the following year in seventh grade you need to have been in a club to join honor society. Have a great year sixth graders! I hope to see you around!!!!

  34. Sixth graders are coming to Bayshore scared and shy. They just need some advice to get them going.

One piece of advice is don't be afraid to speak up and ask questions. It's okay to do that. If you don't know where your next class is or how to open your locker don't be shy to ask. Anyone could help you. Ask a nearby teacher or ask a friend or even a seventh or eight grader. I'm sure anyone would be willing to help. Another piece of advice is don't slack off. Sixth grade starts to move at a rapid pace and if you slack off you may get lost. Always do your homework and don't make excuses that the teacher will not appreciate. Always pay attention during class because you might miss something important. An additional piece of advice is try to stay organized. It sounds easy, but it's not. When your rushing to get to your next class you just throw things in your locker. Try not to do that. Try to take your time. If your binders get disorganized you may loose your homework or an important sheet of paper. Staying organized is the key to success. A different piece of advice is stay focused. If your going to your next class and you end up at a class that you don't have that day or you have next, it probably means you weren't focused on where you wanted to go. Another piece of advice is stay true to yourself. Someone may tell you to do something that you know isn't right. You feel peer pressured to do it anyway. Don't let peer pressure suck you in. Say no or just walk away. Don't become friends with someone you don't like because they are popular. Have your own gang of friends and be an individual. Just make sure your friends are true friends, not phony's. An additional piece of advice is try something after school like cross-country or wrestling. Clubs can be fun too. If you can't do an after school club try a morning club. They can be just as fun. These extra curricular activities can be a stress relieve. You can do something to get your mind off other things. A different piece of advice is always start your projects and do your homework the day given. You may forget the next day and then you will have forgotten to your homework. I know the A day B-day thing can be confusing but on an A-day do your A-day homework, don't wait to do it on a B-day and on a B-day do your B-day homework don't wait to do it on an A-day. If you do it this way it much less confusing on how much homework you have to do on certain days. Always start your projects when given because if you wait until the last day to do them it may be to much work you have to handle or you may totally forget about the project.
I hope my advice will help you get through sixth grade successfully.

  35. Some advice I have for sixth graders, is be yourself. When you start middle school, it might seem like your biggest concern should be trying to fit in, but it's not. Stay true to yourself, and try to be the best student you can! Here are a few tips I have for 6th graders.
‌•Try ,making as many new friends as you can! Defiantly stay in touch and still be friends with your friends from elementary school, but try to make some new friends also.
‌•Join some sports, and clubs. Try to join a club that has to do with something your interested in. If your into writing, sign up for news paper. If your into singing or dancing, sign up for the talent show! Theres a bunch of clubs or activities you can join that fits your internists, whether it's cross country, or the play!
‌•Stay as organized as possible! Make sure you have all your binders, and your lockers neat. If not, it might be hard to find things, and theres a greater chance you might be late for class
‌•Use your planner! This will help you keep your grades up, and make the year a bit easier
‌•Put your grades first! Your grades are really important, and you don't want to fall behind
‌•Don't be afraid to speak up! If you have a question to ask the teacher, raise your hand and ask! Don't be shy, asking questions never bothered teachers
And much more! I hope my advice can help you succeed in your 6th grade year. Have a good year!

  36. Some advice I would give to the sixth graders is to definitively pay attention to all of your classes. Try not to use the bathroom during class because you could miss important material, try to go at break or in between classes. It is easier if you find a buddy who can walk with you to your next class in the beginning of the year, just so you don't accidentally go to thew wrong class. Try to keep your binders/ locker as neat as possible, it will be much easier to find things faster. Remember that you can always ask someone for help, whether it is with homework that you're stuck on or your locker that you can't open. Don't forget your binders/homework at home. Don't procrastinate your projects/homework to the last day, you'll regret not doing all the work that you're left with earlier. Don't be shy, make new friends. Adding onto that, don't be afraid to ask the teacher to go over something or to come in or saty late for extra help. That leads me to another good point, participation. Be sure to always raise your hand when you have the chance, or even if you're not sure about the answer, raise your hand anyway so the teacher can explain why/if your answer is incorrect. I hope my advice will make your sixth grade year that much easier!

  37. My advice to the sixth graders would be to participate and do all your work. Doing this will keep your grade at an A and will help you later on. It will help you get on Bayshore honor society which is big and helps you get in a good high school and a good college. Also the day you hear about a test or project study or start it that day. Don't wait till the day before its due because it puts pressure on you, and you rush to get it done without any effort which will give you a bad grade. If you forget to do your homework don't come up with excuses because they usually wont believe you.

  39. My advice to sixth graders would be to always do your homework. You might think that it is okay to miss a homework but that one missed homework assignment that was no big deal, turns into seven missed homework assignments and it's all of a sudden it's a big deal. Another tip is that you should find someone who is in most of your classes and try to stick with them in the halls, it makes it easier to not get lost or confuse your classes. If you have bad grades, your not just going to wake up and the grades are going to be good, you have to work for that A or A+. Also just have fun and have a great year!

  40. When the new sixth grade students come to Bayshore they may feel overwhelmed and scared, excited and curios, or possibly they'll have mixed emotions about coming to such a larger school. However, no matter how they feel they should succeed. To do this, in my opinion, sixth graders should always stay organized by knowing what their homework is, when they have time to go to their lockers in between classes, and what to bring home from school each day. The second way for sixth graders to succeed is for them to work hard on all homework, tests, and projects. Especially on assignments that are a higher percentage of their grade. Another equally important thing to add is that sixth graders should always do their best to make new friends and joining a club or sport is not only a way to do this, but a way to get involved. Nevertheless, no matter how Bayshore’s youngest students feel about their new school, if they are confident and they always try they will be the best students they can possibly be for this entire year!

  41. I have so much advice for the 6th graders. I was in that same spot last year and it was so hard but I used this advice and I did so much better. Some advice is that you should always do you homework. Take home all your books so than you can finish your homework for both A and B days. The A and B day schedule is hard to keep up with so I recommend doing your homework the day you are assigned it. Make sure that your homework is in your folders when you leave school because without your homework it will take you forever to catch up. When you fall behind, school starts to get harder than it has probably ever been, so make sure you have all of your homework. You also want to stay with a “buddy”. A buddy is someone in your class who is also going to the next class with you. You want to stay with that person because if you get lost at least you're with someone and you're not by yourself. Most of the time you or your buddy will know where the next class is. But if you or your buddy doesn’t know their way around ask a 7th grader, 8th grader, or a teacher. It does get scary being a tiny 6th grader and sometimes getting lost in a big school. But, you will most likely have a buddy in every class, so you will have nothing to worry about. That is all the advice for you. Don’t ever doubt this. It will work all the time. I have been in your position before!

  42. Some advice I would give to the new 6th graders here at Bayshore is to always do your work with 100% effort. If you work your hardest then teachers will like you and when teachers like you the year is much more easier and relaxing. Some other advice I would give to the new 6th graders are if you have a problem with anything or anyone you should tell an adult as soon as possible. You may feel happy, excited or nervous about coming into a bigger school with bigger responsibilities, but I promise you will have nothing to worry about. A month into the school year you will feel like Bayshore is your second home! There are some really fun clubs here at Bayshore too! I also suggest to join one of them. They are really fun and you will get a chance to met some new friends. There are different kinds of clubs for different kinds of personallities. For example, if you like sports, you can sign up for cross country or wrestling (when you go into 7th and 8th grade there will be a largers selection of sports clubs) also, if you are more into indoor clubs, there is newspaper, yearbook, and so much more to choose from. I hope my advice helps you through out your first year at Bayshore! Good luck with the rest of your year!

  43. I remember how desperate I was for advice when I went into sixth grade. I hope I can answer some of your questions. You've heard this too many times to count but I mean it when I say be YOURSELF. You may not know exactly what that means right now so let me tell you. If you feel like your limiting or changing what you are nomally like because your trying to be someone's friend don't. It is not worth it. Find friends you don't have to chase around. They ARE there. Also, you will get by fine without driving yourself absolutely crazy about the work. Finally, watch out for the corners in the hallways. They are trouble. Always stay as far to the right of the hallway as you can. I hope your first year of middle school is progressive and that I've helped.

  44. To succeed and do the best you can do in this school year in my opinion, would first be to always do your homework. Even though you may be busy after school, that doesn't mean you can't do your homework. If you don't do your homework, your grade will drop and you may be smart, but if you don't do your homework, it brings your grade down still. Also, always be nice to your teachers and classmates. Finally, try your hardest in all your work. If you follow all this advice, you will definitely have a great and successful year at bayshore.

  45. My advise for 6th graders is to be organized because if your not organized you wont do your homework and if you don't do your homework you will do poorly in that class. Also make friends they help you throughout the year with homework or even in class. Some more advise is that you should always pay attention in class even if you don't pay attention for one day but the rest you did you still missed something. And that something could be very important because it could also be on a test that you probably wont do good on if your not paying attention. Another thing is make a schedule for your locker like when you have to get your books for Science or for math. On top of all that have fun with your books and decorate your locker because it will make it fun for school as well. And to rap this all up pay attention in class, be organized, have a schedule and have fun. Good Luck 6th Graders!!!

  46. My advice to incoming 6th is to do all of your homework and classwork. Even though it seems as if homework is unnecessary its really not. When your doing homework and classwork, by writing down the info, you're pretty much implanting it in your brain. You should also try and make friends in your classes. You should do that because there might be a time when you forget something. That's when you can call or text your friend for whatever you need. Remember to always pay attention in class, try not to be late, stay orginized, and have fun in your classes,( But don't have so much fun that you get in trouble) Good Luck 6th Graders!!!!!!!:):):):)

  47. Hey 6th graders time for some important things that could happen to you. Your friends could start changing their the way they dress or act. They could even start using makeup. If you do not want to you do not have to change along with them. Just be yourself, under all the change she/he is still your friend. A negative part of middle school is the amount of homework/class work. Yes it is true a lot of homework and class work. A problem with this is a lot of kids have a problem under standing the work. For the problem of homework, yes there is a lot does not mean you get to skip doing it. 2 ways to help, 1 take notes in class even if you we're not told to, you can look back at your notes later to help with homework, studying, project ,etc. 2 have what I call a "homework buddy", a homework buddy is someone you can call if you forgot your homework and need help on it. Final class work, all you really need to do is focus on the lesson or what the teacher is saying. Or really just ask questions it really helps. If you use these tips they will help you succeed in your new, and harder school.

  48. Hey sixth graders here is facts and tips about Bayshore Middle School that i hope will help you. First don't stop at your locker after every class you are wasting time get to where you need to be because one of those times you stop at your locker it wont open on the first time and you will keep trying and you will be late for class. Always stay on the right side of the hallway because if you are walking on the left side you might bump into someone and drop all your stuff and you might be late for class. If you are trying to make it on the honor roll you have to pay attention in class and hand in all classwork and homework on time. You don't want to get in trouble if your friends are doing something bad and you join them stop because you don't wanna get in trouble and wear clothes that are okay for school. There is an dress code in school and if you are just planning of wearing a tank top it has to be at least three finger and not a spaghetti strap. I hope you make it through Middle school safe and okay and I hope all my tips and facts about school will help you.

  49. My advice to sixth graders would be to always do your homework. This is because if you skip homework no matter any class, it will bring your grade down A LOT. Trust me it has happened to me many times in sixth grade and is hard to bring your grades back up. This is the same with projects, classwork, etc. I hope this helped you all.

  50. My advice for the sixth graders is to be organized. You need to be organized because teachers will giving you homework and projects to do. Make sure you don't just stick all your papers in one binder. Organization is one of the things you need to do in Middle school.
Another piece of advice is to make friends. Don't be scared to make new ones. You will still be good friends with your old friends but you wont always be in he same class.

  51. My advice for the sixth graders is to be organized. You need to be organized because some teachers get made if you dont have your stuff make sure you either have pen or pencil to write with but mostly have both because maybe some teachers want you to use a pencil
