After learning about the risks and the extreme, and sometimes violent, actions the Patriots took against their mother country, do you honestly feel you would have joined their cause? OR would have rather been a LOYALIST, benefiting from the rewards of the crown and enjoying good food and fancy parties? EXPLAIN!!

To be honest I think I would have wanted to been a Patriot. I say that because they were with George Washington and I like him. The reason I like George Washington is because he was part of America and America is now a free country and George Washington was part of making this country a free one.

I am truly a patriot. I believe in a right in government and how everyone should have the same rights as their neighbor. The loyalists are not bad people but, I believe they are not wanting the responsibility to make the big decisions, therefore they want someone to rule for them. Everyone absolutely everyone no matter what gender, nationality or age deserves rights.

I would want to be a Patriot because even thought the all almost died for wanting to be and american they still were fighting for there right instead of being forced to.

After learning about the risks and the extreme, and sometimes violent, actions the Patriots took against their mother country, I honestly feel that I would go against the patriots. Just like a tree, the king is the roots and the colonists are the leaves. How would you get nutrients without the roots? How can you stand without it? I think it would be the most nonsensical thing to do to go against King George. Even though he isn't thinking right, they should have thought if he had any problems in his own country other than the Americans.

I think in that time period I would like to be a patriot for a couple of reasons. First I love America and I would stay loyal to the american colonies. Second,if I was a patriot it would require skills and to be clever. Since the Patriots won, before them knowing that,it would be a good feeling to overthrow the redcoats and win. This shows how the Patriots had bravery and stayed strong. I would like to be a patriot much more than a redcoat.

After learning about both sides of the Loyalists and Patriots, I would have rather been a Patriot and stood up for what I believed in as a country. The Patriots did get very violent to the soldiers and Loyalists , but they were just trying to get attention towards their beliefs and unfairness that they needed to be an independent country. I would not have wanted to be a Loyalist because that was a little bit of an easier position to be in because even though the Patriots attacked and mocked them, they still got rewards from King George and got all of the fancy foods and jobs. This was almost like bribery which persuaded the Loyalists to stay Loyalists and not rebel to be a free country which was better for the colonists. The Patriots were stronger to not give in to the bribery and still fight for their country's best interest and future. Without the Patriots, our country may have not become a free country because of their forcefulness in the idea of being a free country.

Nicole, I think you may be right. Because the right way is always the hardest, and the wrong way is always the easiest. Don't you think? The harder it is the more right it is. The patriots took the hard way and they ended up getting right.

After all I have learned about both sides, I would have been a Patriot and stood up for what I believe in and my country. Under the control of George Washington I personally think I would've been better off fighting for America than writing and sticking up for the king. Lastly, the Patriots were a lot clever than the King and his army because they had help from the Indians they had fought with in the French and Indian War. Besides, Loyalists were often made fun of and teased and most of their houses had been burned down. That's why I would've been a Patriot.

I honestly feel that I would join the patriots side because I would want freedom from England even if it meant I had to get my hands a little dirty. I also would be a patriot because I believe the King was wrong when he taxed the colonists of America without their consult. I truly believe that the colonists had a right to rebel and therefore I would join them.
ReplyDeleteStephanie Panicali period 3-4b
I would have been a patriot because I would not have wanted to pay taxes to a King across the sea. Taxation without representation meant that the King should not be able to tax us if he was not in our country. I do think that the Patriots took it to far by tarring and feathering the tax collectors. They did get the King's attention by burning the homes of the governor's and mocking British soldiers.
ReplyDeleteJake Rusbrasky period 1-2 B
We would have been a Loyalist. Since, if you rebel against the King and his country you could end up getting hatred. Loyalist can get fancy parties, and terrific food. Also you can get treated with loyalty from the king his servants! If you were a Patriot you would need to pay taxes, and get pushed around by the redcoats.
ReplyDelete-Serena N and Rachel L., Period 1-2B (:
I would have been a loyalist. You would be treated nicely by the King, you would get better food, a better home, and you would get a better job than the patriots. People's lives would be better if they were Loyalists. And as a Loyalist, before the war, you probably would have felt more confident that you would win the war, knowing that your army had just defeated the French, and became the "Largest and most powerful army in the world."

Due to my own personality and cowardliness, I would be a loyalist because of these facts. First, I would fancy food and parties unlike the poor classes. Second, I would be protected by the crown from attacks, therefore making it more safe to join than the patriots. Finally, I would get a great paying job to hold me over for a long time. That is why I would be a loyalist in colonial times.

I would be a Loyalist because I would get speacial treatment from the king and I wouldn't want war. I'd rather wait for someone to change the king. Maybe he could die and his son be less insane,so he'd get rid of the taxes for good. Plus England was still my home and I wouldn't want to separate and be hated by my home.

I would be a patriot because they won the Revolution. They also fought for their country. Another Reason is that they were lead by George Washington. Also, I do not want to be ruled by King George III. He didn't even rule as much. I would be a patriot, 5 of 5 stars

ReplyDeleteI would definitely wanted to be a loyalist because I would never hate my country and I would love to be loyal and get a lot of good food and other people would look up to me as a good wealthy person. Rather than being one of the Patriots who don’t like their country and who aren’t loyal with not a lot of money and valuables.
After learning about the risk and the extreme, I would choose to be a Patriot (if given the choice). Even though they had a hard time, they were loyal to their people and fought for what was right. Also, the Sons Of Liberty would be wreaking havoc, and I believe I would want a part of the action! Therefore, if given the choice, I would be a patriot in the colonies of the soon to be United States.

PATRIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We decided that we would be patriots. The reason we decided this, is due to the fact that although we were indeed terrible physically to the redcoats, they did worse to us. They refused to allow us to do anything without there permission, and they acted as if we were their pets, forcing us to give everything we made, and worked for, to them. They taxed us, which hurt us financially. This caused us to work HARDER, which made the red coats take more money from us.

If I had to be a Patriot or a Loyalist, I would want to be a Loyalist. I wouldn't want to dishonor my country and risk getting caught. Although it would be challenging to avoid Patriots, I would find a way to stay loyal to my home country. Also, I would be rewarded by England and get special jobs to help them out. Finally, I would want to go to fancy parties and get good food unlike the poor class.

i dont know if i would be a loyalist because that means that someone would be in charge of you all the time. like the king would probably kill you if you did like one thing wrong and if you were a patriot there wasn't anyone really in charge of you and the king wouldn't really be in charge of you all the time. sidne h period 10/11
ReplyDeleteIf we were a Patriot or a Loyalist, we would be a Patriot. We would be a Patriot because we would want to fight for our freedom and independence. We would want to go down in a blaze of glory. We would rather fight for our country in the war, than being at England with smelly slobs. America is our home. We would not want our home to be raided and destroyed. No. We will fight to the very end.

ReplyDeleteI would have honestly been a patriot. After learning about the extreme conditions and consequences I would, at times, have considered being a loyalist, only because of what the king would do to me. But, my wanting to fight for my freedom and independence would have over powered the worries of what our 'mothering' country would do for betraying them. Also, i'm sure at one point in the revolutionary war some patriots had considered switching sides.

I would absolutley rather be a Patriot than a Loyalist. For a number of reasons. One, being a patriot is being true to your country I think that is really important, even today. You should be proud to be American. Second, I think being a loyalist is just trying to be safe with the king. Bravery is a big part of being a Patriot. Those are just some of the reasons I think that the clear choice is to be a Patriot.

I would choose to be a patriot over being a loyalist. I would choose to be a patriot because it shows everyone that you will stand up for yourself. Loyalists are just being on the safe side because they are afraid of how to king would punish them if they were to betray him. Patriots stood up for their country because they thought we deserved to be free and they were the only people brave enough to go against the king. This paid off in the end. I would much rather be true to my country and stand up for my rights than follow the kings orders and be miserable because of fear. In conclusion, I think it's better to be a patriot than to be a loyalist.

After learning about the risks, and the extreme, and sometime violent, actions the Patriots took against their mother country I honestly feel that I would have still joined the Patriots and their cause. I would still join them because they have a really good reason for fighting in the war, and the British don’t have any causes for fighting in the war. I would have also joined them because I believe in what they were fighting for.

Honestly, I would have rather been a Loyalist. The loyalists were not involved in all of the trouble making like the Patriots were. I am very shy and would not want to be “wanted” by Britain or the center of attention. Loyalists were also rewarded for their loyalty to the king. They were given rewards such as jobs. To me, it seems that being a loyalist would have given you a much easier life. I would have just paid the taxes and stayed out of trouble. Certain Patriots are very famous for what they did back then, and specific people who were Loyalists aren’t very well-known, but we still have to pay taxes in modern day. I feel that being a Loyalist would give me a much easier trouble-free life, and I wouldn’t have been putting my life at risk every time I tried to rebel.

ReplyDeleteI would be a Loyalist. I know they were on King George's side and all of his actions were wrong, but the loyalist stayed out of trouble and didn't start any wars. I know if I were to be a patriot my life would be in danger because Patriots were always defying and stating wars. If I were a patriot I wouldn't have to leave my life in fear because loyalist were always so peaceful, and just did as they were told and didn't make any scenes.

If I was alive during the Revolutionary War, I would have definitely been a patriot. Some reasons for that would be; Patriots were fighting for a cause. Also, although there were many disadvantages, the patriots had a home field advantage. The patriots had the best leader ever which was George Washington. Loyalists were just being safe, and doing what King George ||| said. Although patriots were very rebellious, loyalists were boring and who would want to live a extremely boring life? In conclusion, I would totally want to be a patriot way more than a loyalist!

After learning about all of the risks and extremes that the Patriots faced in fighting for their freedom, I would have sided with them. If I was desperate for freedom and had gone through everything that they did from the King, I would definitely join the Patriots. I would honestly feel that if I wanted to be able to move back to America with the freedom that the Patriots deserved it would have been totally worth it. Although they were taking risks to receive this freedom, I would have joined in with them to make them bigger and stronger. The Patriots going against England were committing treason which was a terrible crime. That is why I think I would have sided with the Patriots and taken the brave risks.

If I had to choose between being a Loyalist or a Patriot I would choose to be a Patriot. I feel most of the things King George III asked the colonist to do was not fair. All the taxes and fees were really being used to help pay for the debt from the war. The colonist were brave people, leaving the only country they ever knew and setting out to start a new life in America. I would want to be a part of that life. I also believe in fighting for what you believe in, which is exactly what they did. miranda badrick

ReplyDeleteAfter learning about the risks and extreme actions the Patriots took, I believe that if I was alive during the time of the American Revolution, I would’ve chosen to be a Patriot. The Loyalists partied and ate food, while the Patriots risked it all for their country. The Patriots may have been the underdogs, but they fought hard and well for what they wanted, which was their freedom. Without the Patriots, every American could still be under the ruling of England. Therefore, I would of chosen to be a Patriot.
