ReplyDeleteSome positive effects on the reconstruction where that the 13th, the 14th and the 15th amendment where made. the 13 amendment was that slavery had ended and that all slaves would be free in the United states. The 14th amendment addresses citizen rights and equal protection of the laws. The 15th amendment people have the right to vote no matter what race or color they are they can vote.
ReplyDeleteSome negative factors during reconstruction are that the KKK was formed and they would kill people that would not be on there side during that time. Another negative thing is that Grant the president would always believe people and he was to honest and that all the people where sealing million of dollar off of him and he not even knowing it.

The positive effects that occurred with Reconstruction were that the 13th,14th, and 15th amendments were created. The negative effects are that the KKK (Ku Klux Klan) was created. The KKK was a group that would go around and kill people that were against them.

There are many effects reconstruction had on the North and the South, both positive and negative. A positive effect on the entire country was the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments were created. These amendments were created to protect the rights of freedmen. A negative effect of reconstruction was the hate groups that were created. For example, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) was started during reconstruction to protest against freedmen. Also, President Ulysses S. Grant and Andrew Johnson were not the best presidents to lead during reconstruction. Their leadership didn’t help with anything.

I agree with you Paige. I also believe that Ulysses S. Grant and Andrew Johnson were not the best presidents to lead Reconstruction. -Noelle Gibbons Period 1-2A
DeleteBecause they did nothing to help and their leadership was really weak, we should have had someone else lead that time.^ Noelle Gibbons
DeleteSome positive effects of reconstruction were the 13th Amendment, which freed the slaves, the 14th Amendment, which gave African Americans citizenship, and the 15th Amendment, which gave African American men the right to vote. A negative effect would be the terrorist organizations that were created, such as the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). The KKK killed and tortured people that supported the freedom of African Americans and they did this to the African Americans too. At least that time is over now, even though racism still exists in parts of America.

Some positive things coming out of the reconstruction period is that the 13th and 15th amendment were passed. These amendments abolished slavery and allowed African American men the right to vote. This was a huge step to change, and gave hope to many people. Although there were positive changes, they came with setbacks. Some negative changes made during this time were that many people started to blame blacks for the fail of reconstruction. Many people began to join Terrorism and hate groups. This lead to segregration and caused racism. Many African Americans were mistreated critisized during this time.

There were many positive and negative effects of Reconstruction. A positive effect was that the Civil War was finally over, so there were no longer family members fighting against each other and the brutal deaths were over. Other positive outcomes were that the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments. The 13th abolished slavery, the 14th declared anyone born in the U.S(regardless of skin color) was a citizen, and the 15th declared that African Americans could vote. However, there were downsides of Reconstruction. One downfall was the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. John Wilkes Booth, still angry about the Confederates loss, thought that killing Lincoln off would help the Confederates, but all it did was hurt them. Another downside of Reconstruction was the Ku Klux Klan. The Ku Klux Klan, most often referred to as KKK, were a group of white people who were still racist and blamed the former slaves for the fails of Reconstruction. Because of their negative feelings towards them, the KKK would hares, abuse and sometimes even hang the innocent blacks. It took a while to fully stop the actions of the KKK.
