  1. For my PBL project I researched the Puritans, U.S.A, China, and Russia. Some of interesting facts that I have found about China are
    1. China has 400 million students.
    2. They have freedom of religion.
3.Chinese citizens start school at the age of 2.
    4. Chinese kids only have to go to school for 9 years because their school year id longer.
    5. A Chinese women can only have one child. If the first-born child is a girl, then they can have another child since China is over populated.
This research changed my P.O.V on China because I thought that they were a bad place to live but, now I like the country better.

  2. Some interesting things that I have learned is that in the United States 50.1 million kids are enrolled in public schools. Another thing that I have learned is that 1.3 million kids do not graduate on time yearly. Also Woman only make 77 cents for every dollar men make. It changed my view on the country because I did not know that many people live in the United States

  3. For my PBL I thought the country that was very interesting was North Korea. Like one fact is that the people of North Korea listen to what their leader (Kim Jong Un) says, and they also hang a picture of Kim ll Sung in every room in every building to show respect to their God. Their religion is Juche, and that is they only religion the people are allowed to practice. They only can practice one religion because they don't want to ruin the deification of the leader. Another interesting fact is about Woman's rights. Woman can get abused by their husband and no one would do anything
about it, they would just let the people sort it out themselves.

  4. For my PBL, one of my countries was Senegal. The girls there are not treated fairly and they don't graduate high school. they get married at age 12 or 13 to 30+ year old men that they do not even know. Then they are forced to have kids around age 15 or 16. Some girls have 2 or 3 kids before they are even 20! The girls are often beaten by their husbands and nobody even cares. This change my thinking because I thought that hurting people and abusing people would be illegal even in 3rd world countries.

  6. 1. Buddhism was brought to the Chinese 2,000 years ago
    2. All citizens in China must attend at least nine years of school
    3. In Syria 87% of the people are Islam, 10% are Christian and 3% are druzisms
    4. Syrian women were left behind in a refugee camp for the men to leave them
    5. The United States spent $621 billion dollars on education the shows that they care more about education.
    6. The percentage for Christians in the United States is 70.6% that shows that it is more of a Christian Country.
These facts changed my view because in Syria it shows that men don't really care about women, because they left them behind

  8. The countries I researched for my project were Iraq, America and Afghanistan.

Some things that I learned about the United States are,
People are not required to go to church.
318.9 million people live in In America. About 81% of Americans are Christian. About 13% have no religion. About 4% are Muslim, Buddhist or Jewish.
In fall 2015, about 50.1 million students will attend public elementary and secondary schools. Of these, 35.2 million will be in preschool through grade 8 and 14.9 million will be in grades 9 through 12. An additional 4.9 million students are expected to attend private schools. About 3.3 million kids are expected to graduate from high school.

Some things that I learned about Iraq are,
It is a crime to convert to a different religion.
In the early 1990s the education in Iraq was good but in 2003 it began to decline. There are lack or resources, the politicians are taking over the education system, security threats, and corruption.
    Woman barely have any rights.
They do 70% of the work labor.
They are forced to marry certain people and are sometimes killed if they refuse.
Some things that I learned about Afghanistan are,
Non-Muslims had to say that they were not Muslim. If you were not Muslim you had to either put a yellow flag on your roof, where a yellow hat if you are a man or where a yellow dress if you a are a lady.
Woman do not get an education.
There is so much violence in the schools that some children cannot go to school.
Afghanistan had 439 teachers, education employees and students killed in 2006-9, which is one of the highest in the world.
The Taliban made a rule that a woman was not allowed to leave the house or go to work without being accompanied by a male family member. If woman were arrested they would have to wander the streets selling everything they owned in order to survive.
Women do not get an education.

This changes the way I look at these countries because I used to think that there was just a lot of poverty in places like Afghanistan and Iraq but after doing all this research I learned that there are a lot bigger problems than just poverty.

  9. My country was Pakistan

Women can not show their skin except for their eyes. Only their husbands can see them. Women get beaten very violently for reasons that are considered normal in america. The education level in Pakistan is generally divided in 6 levels: Primary, Primary Middle, Middle, High, Intermediate, and University. The religious beliefs in pakistan are islam, sunni, Shia, and Ahmadi.
The most amount of people in general are actually Islam. In this religion Allah is their only god.

  10. The countries and places I researched the Puritans, USA, Iraq, and Jamaica. I learned...
    - that Jamaica has freedom of religion
    - Iraq do not give many rights to women
    - Iraq doesn't have freedom of religion
    - Islam rules are very harsh
    - Puritan rules are very harsh
    - Iraq women have to cover everything except their eyes

  11. The countries I researched were Russia, Syria, USA, and the Puritans. I learned
    - Russia has 75% of its people Orthodox Christianity.
    - 56% of women are threatened, beaten,or killed in Russia.
-Russian basic education is nine years of school
-The largest religious group in Syria are the Sunni Muslims which make up around 74%

-Chinese women are treated very badly
-US women make 78% percent of every dollar men make

  13. One fact that I learned through my research was that women are not treated the same as men throughout most of the world. This made me think about closed-minded I was to women's rights and how much I ignored this major matter.

  15. One of the most interesting information that I learned through this project was that in Tanzania, women are accused of witchcraft and are persecuted. This is shocking to me because still in this day and age we still think that people do witch craft. Also, this changes my view on the world by noticing that we still have room for improvement, and no country is perfect.

  16. One of the most interesting pieces of information I found on my country, Pakistan, was that if an innocent women was raped, criminal charges were placed on her for adultery, even though she is completely innocent. Even worse, the raper is not charged at all. He is not even given a warning. This research changed my view on the world because now I see things aren't so great outside America on Earth. This shows me that there is many people that need help and the world is not a perfect place. Matt M Period 8-10 A

  17. The most interesting facts I learned while researching the Puritans, present day USA,Tanzania, and Israel were:
-Other than their religion, the Puritans cared about school a lot. In fact, in 1636 they have founded Harvard College.
-1.3 million high school students don’t graduate yearly on time. 1.3 million dropouts caused the US not to gain $337 billion.
-The three main religions in Tanzania is Muslim, Christian, and Hindu.
    - Between the ages of three and fifteen, the State of Israel provides free mandatory education.
-Women in the 1600 were not treated very fairly at all.
-The puritans came to America to practice their religion in peace.

This changed my mind on the Puritans, present day USA,Tanzania, and Israel. I thought the way they treated women in Israel was bad but it was actually good. I didn't know they still accused people of witchcraft but they do in Tanzania. I learned how much the USA lost by students dropping out of school. I learned how the treatment of women wasn't fair for Puritan women.

  18. The country I researched that I found the most interesting and surprising was China. Did you know that there are 36 million more males than females living in China? Also, to control population, only one child is allowed per family, and by tradition most families want a boy. China's main religions are Buddhism and Confucianism. This changed my thinking about China because I assumed that China, like America's, main religion would be Christianity. Also, I thought that the one child policy had been revoked many years ago and that it was not still true, but I was wrong. I learned other things, too, like how the male youth literacy rate is 95% and the female literacy rate is 87%, which makes sense since there is still a lot of prejudice against women in many other countries as well.

  20. Now that I have completed the PBL on inequalities in different countries, I realized that many different places around the world are not as fourchette as we are in the United States. For example in Iraq, which was one of the countries I studied, children in Iraq can only go up to secondary school because their country doesn’t allow for children to have a high education than their parents had. So what that means is that they will never change because if your parent went to secondary school and didn’t go to another country to go further than you are not allowed to either. Also in Nepal, for every 77 male students only 47 females attend school, and girls are only allowed to go up to secondary school and boys can go onto high school, which there only lasts two years. So even though the students in the U.S have to go to school other countries are so different and they have kids begging to go to school. So we should be thankful that we get to go to school and have an education, and have a say in what our future is going to be like.

  21. After completing my PBL on the Inequalities of our Past and Present, I began to realize many things I may not have realized before. In the U.S.A, we are so used to a good education system, having a roof over our heads, and being free in general. But, it is not always like this is other countries. Many other countries have people that are not educated, and don't have a roof over their heads. And also in other countries as well, many people are not free, and could still be held as slaves. Many countries are still at war, and are still being invaded by terrorists today. For example, in Mexico, women are often shot and killed, or have even gone missing, due to attackers in the country. Those are the reasons why this project has changed my views on different countries around the world.

  22. After I completed my PBL on inequality of the past and present I realized the way we live is very different than many other countries. Here in America we are very used to freedom; freedom of speech, freedom to practice whatever religion you want and so on. It is not like this in many other places. Also here in america in many places we have good education, in many other countries its a privilege to go to school for kids. Also kids don´t go to school for as long in other countries as we do here. Also in some countries their education system is better than it is here.It is also very dangerous in some places and people there live in constant fear and here in america its usually really safe . So many different countries live many different ways which I really learned about when we did this PBL.

  23. A country that I thought was interesting was Somalia. They had no rights especially the women. Many of the children dint get an education. There's a war that targets women. Only 9 percent give birth in health facilities. 95 percent of women face genital mutilation.Only 7.5 percent of parliament seats are held by women. The government is very unfair and a lot people suffer from having rights. It is so much different than good countries and successful country's like America. Although we do have problems they are nothing compared to the problems that the people of Somalia have. I really enjoyed this project because really showed me what is going on in the world.

  24. I really liked doing this project because it let me know what things are like all around the world. I did China for one of my countries and I found out it was a lot different from America. The Chinese women got paid about 30% of what men got. They also started education at the age of two. This project made me notice how America was different and similar to other countries.

  25. The most interesting information that I learned from this project was women's rights and not only in the U.S.A. They have changed so much, although they are still not great, I learned how much worse they were. I learned that even in the united states women aren't equal to men still. For example, I learned that women only get 77 cents to the 1.00 that a man would make. This project was fun and I enjoyed learning about what is going on now while knowing what happened in the past.

  26. For my PBL I researched the three counties known as the U.S.A, Afghanistan, and Iraq. There were many interesting facts that I learned about all three countries that I have never know before.
One fact that I learned about the in the U.S.A was 7 million kids don't go to school, when 50.1 million kids attend school. Another fact I learned about Afghanistan was that a women is not allowed out of the house without a blood relative and her body fully covered. Finally I learned that in Iraq almost 1000 schools are built from mud, straw, or tents.

  27. After working on my PBL for the Inequalities of the past and present, I have found that the country had the most interesting facts was China. Some of the facts that I thought were very interesting were:
-In China, men are allowed to have several wives. One of the four most popular religions in China are Buddhism, Confucianism, Islam, Christianity.
-The people of China are very focused on their education and it is very important to them. In China, there is a well known system called the “one child policy”. “The one child policy” is when children’s parents make sacrifices for the sake of their child’s education. China has a great education system.
-In China, women are treated with absolutely no respect compared to men and are often beaten. They have almost no rights and are treated how you would imagine woman to be treated thousands of years ago. They do not treat woman like real people, more like objects to abuse. Most woman in China can't even leave the house without a man by their side.
Before researching the country China, I never knew that woman almost completely had no rights and how serious the education is. This whole project helped me realize that every country has it's serious problems, including the U.S.A.
